NIDO is an umbrella organization for all Nigerian professional groups in the Americas, and the membership of the organization comprises both individual and groups.

A person is eligible for membership if such a person:

• Is a Nigerian national or married to a Nigerian national or otherwise qualifies for Nigerian Citizenship under the constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria.
• A person duly applies to the Board of Directors to become a member of the organization
• The Board of Directors finds such a person to be of good moral character consistent with the values and principles of the organization and approves the membership application of such a person
